Spotlight on Belfry Supporters

Ann and Bob Myers are retired health care professionals who support the Belfry Theatre in Victoria because of their belief that people and their communities are enriched in myriad ways by a healthy dose of the arts.

Bob was CEO of hospitals and held other senior executive positions in health care organizations in both Alberta and British Columbia. Ann was in hospital and medical administration with the B.C. Ministry of Health and various hospitals and health care organizations. Bob credits Ann with immersing him in theatre and the visual arts which have resulted in a collection of artwork, much of it by local Indigenous artists.

Supporting the Belfry is a way of showing gratitude for a very valuable community asset. Theatre in general presents many different views and helps to break down barriers.

The Myers have a blended family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the years they have introduced many family and friends to the Belfry and first became donors in 1997 when they named a seat in a capital campaign. Today they are members of the Director’s Circle as monthly donors. In order to ensure the Belfry will be here for future generations, a couple of years ago they decided to also provide a legacy gift for the Belfry in their estate plans.

For the Myers, “Supporting the Belfry is a way of showing gratitude for a very valuable community asset Theatre in general presents many different views and helps to break down barriers. The Belfry, in particular, excels in this manner. It has created a comfortable and inclusive space for all. We cannot say enough about how grateful we are to have such a well-run theatre, both artistically and administratively, with a dedicated and talented staff and a strong and experienced board. The Belfry remains a constant in our lives providing thought-provoking entertainment, and we want to help ensure the Belfry endures for many more years to come.”
